One reason?

Almost no company worth their salt are goung to stick their data out
there for some idiot like Roy to decide its "must be shared". Some COLA
"advocate" like Phil Da Hypocrite (or Vincent) will decide that their
research should be in the public domain.

After all, according to big head and big mouth Mark Kent there is "no
such thing as intellectual property". Yup. He said that.
